Waldorf Education: The Path of the Teacher and the Education of the Child
Learning through relationship is the most powerful and direct educational experience.
A loving and understanding care for the earth, plants, animals and our fellow travellers
through life begins with relationships within the family, broadens into the wider
community and eventually expands more as children enter school.
Self-education is a necessary tool for us as Waldorf teachers so we begin this series of
explorations into Waldorf education with a focus on the path of education of the adult
whose charge it is, or will be, to shape the education of the children in who come to us.
Thus the series will lead us through various aspects of the life of a Waldorf school from
the personal responsibility of the teacher, relationships with the parents and their
families, relationships to various subject areas and learning styles, leading us to a wider
perspective of the Waldorf movement and it’s organizational support systems. The year
will close with a week long summer intensive focusing on the practice of speech and
tone eurythmy, one of the most unique gifts to the education of teacher and student
alike.
Join us and begin, or continue, a path of exploration into transformative practice that can deepen and broaden us as freely creative and responsible educators.
